Elect Deputy Mayor Foubert ABMunis Towns South Director

I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Alberta Municipalities board of directors, representing communities across Southern Alberta.

ABMunis works diligently to advocate for its member municipalities across the entire province, from summer villages to the big cities, and all the towns between. That advocacy work is in addition to informing the public about the challenges facing municipalities and providing business services to them.

As a candidate, I am uniquely qualified with 15 years of experience as a former award-winning journalist and editor. In 2021, I won the National Newspaper Award for local reporting, becoming the first weekly newspaper journalist to ever receive that honour. I was also nominated for the Canadian Journalism Federation’s Jackman Award for Journalistic Excellence, which honours the work of journalists across different media types.

I left journalism to go into municipal politics and serve my community in a new and exciting way. Being a councillor is not a full-time job, however, and pursuing the role of director on the ABMunis board is another way I can contribute my time, skills, and knowledge to the work of municipalities of all sizes. I have the available time to dedicate to this role.

It would be an honour to be able to serve my community in this additional way, and to spend more of my time getting to know elected officials in Southern Alberta, a place that is very close to my heart.

If you are an elected official from Towns South attending ABMunis convention in November, I would love to connect with you. I will have homemade salted vanilla caramels to share as a way to sweeten our conversations together.
