Election Platform 2025

I am excited to share my Community First Plan and municipal election platform with the Canmore community. It is a privilege to share my vision with you, and it is also an honour to listen to my community during this election. These ideas are just a starting point for our conversations over the next four weeks, and I want to hear from you because representing your interests is the most essential part of my job.

For that reason, the first and most important part of my platform is a commitment to improved public engagement. That can happen on different levels and in various ways, but the most important thing is my personal commitment to communication and engagement with you.

That is why I have launched the newsletter Curiosity Canmore. It is a way for me to hear from you regularly and for you to stay informed about what is happening in your community. I am also creating a monthly event where I will be available in the community to hear from you. The launch of this event, Get the Scoop, will be on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Lovely Ice Cream.

This will be a dedicated time and place for you to speak with me directly as your elected representative.

If elected, I will also work to gain my colleagues' support for a robust review of our public engagement policy, communications staffing levels, and budgets. My approach is to be the best at getting better. Effective public engagement and consultation are fundamental to a council’s decision-making process.

Community Connections is a pillar of my platform, and I am committed to improving our engagement as your elected official. This pillar also includes a commitment to prioritize building a pedestrian bridge over the Trans-Canada Highway; take time to have a community conversation about our integrated transportation master plan to inform its update; and explore ways to reduce conflicts between users on our amazing multi-modal trail network.

The next pillar of my platform includes efforts to put our Community First. That includes expanding the affordable services program; prioritizing upgrades to the wastewater treatment plant; and proposing a visitor management strategy.

The third pillar is Community Collaboration, which includes supporting regenerative tourism initiatives, examining how an expanded cultural facility could fit into our downtown core, and creating tax policy to support the Livability Tax Program.

The last pillar of my campaign is my passion project to expand the Circular Economy in our community and valley. That means supporting community efforts in this space; the creation of a Zero Waste Strategy for the municipality; and a vision to have a re-use it centre of some form or another in the future.

I will expand on each of these pillars over the next four weeks. Stay tuned and sign up for the newsletter!
